The history of these two-headed sparrows remains a mystery. In 1984
a great uncle passed away and willed furniture to Joseph. Within the
drawers of a mahogany bureau was a grouping of preserved two headed
English sparrows. Also within the bureau were engravings of Queen
Elizabeth I. No one in the family knows where the birds came from.
Cavalieri’s research into the family history only disclosed two facts
which all the relatives agree. His Uncle’s wife, also deceased, was
from an English background, and this particular uncle was an avid
hunter, and preferred to hunt alone.
