First seeing the composit sketch R. Crumb wrote "...it certainly thrills me, personally. And you too, I guess." The original caption for this illustration reads "Carried books like a girl" but most of the visitors during Joseph's residency at the Museum of Arts and Design in Manhattan recognize the male figure as being a young R. Crumb, hence the title. Cavalieri worked with Robert Crumb to produce this series of stained glass panels. Mr. Crumb, the animation cult hero, has agreed to let Joseph use his iconic images. "Young Crumb" was produced during Cavalieri’s three month residency at MAD.
